Kamal Joshi

On October 30, 2023, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (“the Committee,” “the ICRC”) of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (“the College”) made a decision regarding the practice and conduct of College registrant Kamal Joshi. The Committee’s decision followed a College investigation into a complaint made by a former patient. After reviewing this information, the Committee identified concerns with Kamal Joshi’s practice in the areas of professional boundaries, informed consent, patient communication, draping sensitive areas and record keeping/demonstrating clinical reasoning. In order to address these concerns, the Committee decided to require that Kamal Joshi complete a Specified Continuing Education or Remediation Program (“SCERP”) involving a resource review, professional boundaries course and practice enhancement coaching.

Since 2017, as required by law, the College has been posting information about SCERPs on the public register. A SCERP is ordered by the ICRC when they have identified concerns regarding a physiotherapist’s practice or conduct. A SCERP is an educational program and is not a finding of wrongdoing, professional misconduct or incompetence, nor is it disciplinary in nature.
