SCERP
4/29/2026
On February 19, 2026, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC) identified concerns with Nileshkumar Patel’s practice in the areas of informed consent, delegated care, and professionalism and ethics in practice, including the management of potential or perceived conflicts of interest. Nileshkumar Patel is required to address these concerns through a Specified Continuing Education or Remediation Programs (SCERP), which includes a review of relevant standards and resources, and engagement with a practice enhancement coach to support the Physiotherapist’s understanding and application of these professional obligations in practice.
Since 2017, as required by law, the College has been posting information about SCERPs (Specified Education or Remedial Programs) on the public register. A SCERP is ordered by the ICRC when they have identified concerns regarding a physiotherapist’s practice or conduct. A SCERP is an educational program and is not a finding of wrongdoing, professional misconduct, or incompetence, nor is it disciplinary in nature.

Because of the serious nature of these concerns, the Committee decided to require Nileshkumar Patel to appear before the ICRC on a date specified by the Registrar to receive a caution regarding the issues of concern.

A caution is a decision made by the ICRC when a concern raised in a complaint or in a formal investigation is sufficient to require the physiotherapist to attend before a panel of the ICRC to receive feedback from the panel on how to prevent similar concerns from arising in the future.
