Mehulkumar Bhavanbhai Zala

On February 20, 2024, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (“the Committee,” “the ICRC”) of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (“the College”) made a decision regarding Mehulkumar Zala's practice and conduct. The Committee’s decision followed a College investigation into a mandatory report and a mandatory self-report regarding M. Zala's conduct and criminal charges. After reviewing this information, the Committee identified concerns with M. Zala's conduct in the area of professional boundaries. In order to address these concerns, the Committee decided that it would be appropriate for M. Zala to complete a number of remedial activities through a Specified Continuing Education or Remediation Program (“SCERP”). The activities include taking a PROBE ethics and professional boundaries course.

Since 2017, as required by law, the College has been posting information about SCERPs on the public register. A SCERP is ordered by the ICRC when they have identified concerns regarding a physiotherapist’s practice or conduct. A SCERP is an educational program and is not a finding of wrongdoing, professional misconduct or incompetence, nor is it disciplinary in nature.
